WHERE DID ALL YOUR WIT GO?

Where did all your wit go?
It used to slash and burn
Left me here in a flaming wreck
But now that tide has turned
Where did all your wit go?
Still wanna take me on?
Your soul’s as strong as withered straw
You broke the moral laws

Where did all your wit go?
It left you in the dust
All your wicked prophecies turned out to be a bust
Where did all your wit go?
Your coat and hat don’t hide
The gut and heart that’s missing
Or your mistress from your bride

Where did all your wit go?
I doubt it’s in the sky
The birds would not be airborne
Too poisonous to fly
Where did all your wit go?
Your begging bowl is dry
Caught on to your agenda
Of deceit and dirty lies

Given power by fools who serve only to protect their tyranny
So I escaped and made a fire to burn the past, protect, and to preserve
What I believe

Where did all your wit go?
Have you lost your huckster’s pitch?
You’d bottle and sell your mother’s milk if it would make you rich
Think of the corruption
You’ve left your fellow man
To steal bread from your brother’s mouth
You’d proudly give your hand

For years I had to stand alone while even shepherds stand among their flock
And even built my tombstone, and wrote my will with nothing left to give
On a painted rock

Where did all your wit go?
Looks like it cracked the mirror
Cut you in half, and now God’s wrath
Is finally what you fear
Where did all your wit go?
Have you looked inside your heart?
Are you feeling retribution yet?
For the lives you tore apart

Where did all your wit go?
It caught you by surprise
To one moment be worshiped
And the next to be despised
Where did all your wit go?
Looks like it left you pain
Right when all your politics
Were about to be ordained

Following the prophets words, a promise truth will one day rise above
A crow as black as coal was seen flying into the sun, but he returned
And was a dove

Where did all your wit go?
It once led many men
But all your greed did was mislead them
Into the lions den
Where did all your wit go?
It’s like a fugitive
It must have fleed when God decreed
You had no time to live

LOSING TIME

‘Morning After Pill/You Break My Heart’…

My brand new, double A-sided single is now available for streaming AND free download at the link near the bottom of the page.

My first studio recordings since my album release in 2008, the 2 songs are vocal duets with rising Vancouver chanteuse Nadia Von Hahn, & are musically piano/acoustic-guitar based with some killer cello by Doug Gorkoff. They were recorded by Winston Hauschild, mixed by Shawn F. Cole, & mastered by Rob Fillo.

Dark, brooding, & intense: the songs compliment one another in theme & performance. The first track, MORNING AFTER PILL, is heart-achingly slow, & the second, YOU BREAK MY HEART is taken at near break-neck acoustic speed. Both, however, share the same instrumentation & players.

Please check it out at the link below & leave a comment here under this note if you’re so inclined.

In other news, my first full-length solo-set in ages happens this month. Wednesday, February 23rd at about 8:30, at the cool new supper-club/bar type venue, ‘THE HELM’. 1180 Howe St. NO COVER.

SUMMERTIME AINT OVER (written 1990, finally full-band electric demoed 2009)

You tell me “Boy you had better grow up.”

I tell you I’ll never settle down

Rags like you they make me wanna throw up

Give me that mask I’ll gladly play the clown

Summertime and you won’t see me sober

Don’t wait around for me

‘Cause summertime ain’t over

Got no use for holiday employment

Need my rest, got better things to do

Wake up late that’s what I call enjoyment

Real nice day, the sky is baby blue

Summertime and you won’t see me sober

Got too much attitude to spare

The reason why I won’t get any older

Freeze frame in childhood

‘Cause summertime ain’t over

No time left for any explanations

On my way to meet my boyhood friends

Drink all night that ain’t exaggeration

Sick all day that’s how it always ends

ABSOLUTE DUTY (to you), recently re-discovered original acoustic demo

——————————————————————————————-

My pain is plenty, my friends are few, do you think I could matter to someone like you?

With hard times behind me, in which ditch will you find me?

I’ve got loose lips from sips of cheap wine

A master of disguises, deception and surprises

But for you I would walk a straight line

My fantasy swims, in a river of sin

My carnal thoughts know where we’ll travel

And every place I will trace on your skin

I’ve carved out a theme of slight of hand schemes

But it’s come time to settle this game

It’s down to the end of this poisonous pen

There’s barely enough ink left to write my name

A light’s on the horizon

I’m dragging around lies and

I’ve gambled all the fortunes that I’ve made

All for you down to the edge of this blade

My compadres in the clink sure still like to drink

Imprisoned with prisons inside

Disregard the disgrace and I’ll show you my face

In the light of your eyes I won’t hide

Somewhere there’s a cure for the bad things that were

Every innocent soul that’s been shattered

Every heartache my loved ones have endured

My hands are busy, but my aim’s still true, do you think I could matter to someone like you?

TELL THE TRUTH (new song, acoustic demo 2010)

You’ve got to tell the truth, don’t come at me with none of your lies
You’ve got to tell the truth, don’t come at me with none of your lies
There aint a copper or a stalker who’d believe those alibis

A hypocrite is what you are, it’s starting now to make me mad
A hypocrite is what you are, it’s starting now to make me mad
You take a drag out of your cigarette & tell me that I’m living bad

You haven’t been so clean, a little bird told me so
You haven’t been so clean, a little bird told me so
It started with a white lie, but where it ends we still don’t know

You’ve got to tell the truth, are you listening to what I said?
You’ve got to tell the truth, are you listening to what I said?
If you keep with all the lying, gonna find your poor self dead

THE ANSWER IS NO (electric, full band) (new song demo, 2010)

Scorch the Earth of black revenge

Till the soil as you become what you avenge

Disillusion sets the dance

With a snipers aim you’ve taken out your final chance

Like a newly crippled dancer forced to go on with the show

All your prayers they have been answered

The answer is no

Throw your conscience down the well

Strip the carcass for the parts that you might sell

What’s a grave with no remains

What was hallowed then is hollow now with phantom pains

Like a harlequin disaster, turned your love to powdered snow

All your prayers they have been answered
The answer is no

Pledging truth before dishonor as they lie right to the mirror

I’ll abide by this no longer, I will smash the chains of fear
I aspire, give me alchemy, or face a stagnant death
I am fire, I am Shiva, I was born to conquereth

Never tire, I will burn your cities down with my final breath

Disappointed disappointing alternating in a row

All your prayers they have been answered

The answer is no

YOU HAVE NO IDEA (new song demo, 2010)

It’s been years, since the tears
Still I remember every word you said
It replays through the days
Like a movie inside my head

If I’d known, or was shown
The secret protocol of being your man
I’d have prayed, & obeyed
Moved mountains just to understand

That breathless thrill where heart meets sleeve
You think the light of love will never leave

Heavenly screams, devilish whispers
The spaces between, was any of it real
Holding out hope, is giving me blisters (on my skin)
How tight is the rope (digging in), you have no idea

You were here, disappeared
Yes, I really thought it was the end
It defined, every rhyme
Of every poem that I’ve ever penned
Where you are, may be far
But it’s only just a melody away
Time is still, yet it’s filled
With tomorrow, now, & yesterday

It’s the land of the free, the home of the blues
Where love’s another drug that you must use, then abuse

First I’ll get personal, & then I’ll get profane
My emotions of late seem to spin with the weather vane
